It was wonderful having a nice long chat to passionate local artist Antoinette Inguanti, who felt both honoured and excited to be exhibiting at this event.
A little about Antoinette's story continued below...
According to Antoinette, years went by and there was no time for art due to working, marrying, home duties and starting a family. To have time to do art was a luxury which she sadly could not afford at that time!
Once her children required less of her time she re-started her passion for painting with different mediums.
For Antoinette, to engage in art and being creative is a means of therapeutic relaxation. It takes her to different places, immerses her in nature and is sometimes very spiritually rewarding.
Antoinette has recently discovered resin art. When working with resin, she is on a time frame, as it is a medium which cures quite rapidly! - "It controls you"!
Antoinette's love of the ocean certainly influences her preferences of what to paint, but then again her vast life experiences and memorable travels around the world also are portrayed in some of her works.
Antoinette also enjoys life drawing and the beautiful and mysterious human body.
Antoinette has also recently discovered another technique which is a lot of fun and quite addictive. "It’s so different from oils, watercolours, pastels or other traditional art", she states. It is Acrylic pouring art. According to Antoinette, this method and medium is very much in control of the artist and not the other way around for a change ....."It’s serendipity!"
Antoinette has also displayed her beautiful works at the Old Portarlington Historical Mill, where the U3A Art Group display their Annual achievements.
